Hutchins' Great Conversation

A copy of the essay 'The Great Conversation' by Robert Hutchins is posted at Encyclopaedia Britannica.
"Editor’s Note: Mr. Hutchins’ essay was written for the 1st edition of Great Books of the Western World in 1952, and it will be clear to the reader that some of his references to events are dated, but the Editors believe that the basic argument of this essay is as valid today—if not more so—as when it was written."
