'Gateway to the Great Books' as ebook

This companion set to Great Books of the Western World, intended for younger readers, was first published in 1963. It is out of print but is available as an ebook. Encyclopaedia Britannica unfortunately does not indicate the ebook format or formats or provide a "look inside".

The print edition avoided the small print and double-column format that among the criticisms of Great Books of the Western World. The Gateway Table of Contents is available at the Center's website. As you can see, the texts selected were generally not written for younger readers. The set includes "A Plan of Graded Reading" that goes from 7th graders through college sophomores.
