Sam de Brito on The Great Conversation

Sam de Brito in the Sydney Morning Herald
"Upon discovering that Great Books [of the Western World (1st ed. 1952)] set, I couldn't help reflect on the inversion that has seen a large part of the Western literary and scientific canon reduced to less than the price on an X-Box.

"Interestingly, it is a subject taken up by the editors of the Great Books series in the very first volume of the work titled 'The Great Conversation'. That 'conversation' is our ongoing dialogue about what it means to be a human being, what is our nature and destiny, what constitutes the good life and a good state?"
