The University in America

The latest issue of the Center’s weekly, The Great Ideas Online (No. 977), discussed this February 1983 address by Mortimer J. Adler on the occasion of the centennial of the University of North Dakota.

"[John] Dewey's appeal in 1916 for equal educational opportunity—equal in quality as well as quantity—went unheeded. Basic schooling in this country still exhibits the same two-track system that Jefferson advocated in 1817."
